Man, I was already pretty bummed that Kujian was being done instead of Genshiken's second season, but the news actually gets worse. I mean, this might not be a big deal for some people, but I am a huge fan of the character designs that have been put forth so far, apparently the people behind the upcoming Kujian TV series are not so much. Don't believe me? Check out the teaser image on the official Kujian site. Now, I only look at my figure shelf every day, but I'm pretty sure that last time I looked at my shelf the Kujian figures that I had prominently displayed were much more charming and much less typical of a piece of shit harem anime. I'd like to ask anyone who sees a staff member from the show to remind them that Negima's anime already came out, and it still needs plenty of character animation work if they really need something to do.
It's a sad day for the Kujian characters. And a sad day for me. THAT IS NOT MY VICE CHAIRMAN!! GIVE HER BACK!!! Admittedly, she's not as bad as the rest, but still! Moreover, a lot of people are missing and there are quite a few that I don't recognize. What is going on?! Plus, the main guy looks like an ass now.
So, I was reading Insert Credit, as I am known to do, and they were pointing out that some ugly chicks were touching each other in a promo for Cave's upcoming shooter game, "Pink Sweets." So, of course, I'm like "I'm there." and I downloaded it from this handy link provided by Majoria's News. There is a streaming version too… but the video was kind of stuttery for me, so watch it if you want. Anyway, the chicks in the video have all the facial fortitude of a retard, and really I just got sort of uncomfortable after the first 30 seconds or so. Oh, and then the Phantom of the Final Fantasy VIII Opera shows up and either laughs or has a seizure, I'm not entirely sure. Either way, it's something you shouldn't miss.
By the by, if you're a fan of Genshiken, don't click this link. Especially at work. Yes, that is my subtle way of thinking about Comiket coming up.
I know Comics Wave yells at you sometimes, but it's really because they love you. In fact, they love you so much that they're going to put up a site for their upcoming OAV Hoshizora Kiseki. Well, they already did that, but aside from that, they're also sharing their release information! The OAV's only episode is set to go on sale on DVD starting August 3rd. In addition to the 27-minute main feature, which was largely produced by only two people, there will be 10 minutes of extras, a credit=free opening sequence and a trailer. That and the color booklet that comes with it will run you 3,990 yen. Hurrah!
Gonzo, you know the company that's famous for having Murata Range around… oh and they did the Densha Otoko opening. They do some nice quality animation.. Oh, right! News. Um, yeah! Ok! They have announced that they will be working to create an anime movie based on Serge Brussolo's novel series "Peggy Sue." The movie is due out in the middle of 2008. Good thing you know about it now, huh?
Toei Animation has gone ahead and opened up the official website for the upcoming TV anime, Binbou Shimai Monogatari. Well, the site is really just preopened. It features a short bit of text and a shot of two sisters in a nice watercolor sort of style. I'm guessing it is going to air on Animate TV, but that's just speculation, though it would explain the link on the site. Whatever, man! I'm trying my best here!!
Word is coming from 2channel, via the MoonPhase forums, that, to go along with the upcoming second season of Genshiken (our first post) there is a full anime TV series of Kujibiki Unbalance in development. WOOHOO! Though, there seems to be some ambiguity as to whether they are developing this in lieu of Genshiken season two or if it is separate and will have no effect. This is further confused by the fact that Genshiken director Mizushima Tsutomu will be directing Kujian as well, though a different studio is working on animation for the title. (which will hopefully keep the quality to Media Factory standards)
Update: It looks like there will be no second season of Genshiken, upon further reading and inspection. There will also be a Kujian serialized manga in the same book that carried Genshiken. I am sad now. Needs more Genshiken. Oh well.
In the interest of saving time before I dash off to the bathroom again… yeah, it's that kind of sick, I am putting these two trailers in the same post. Yay! Anyway, the first trailer is for the somewhat creepy looking, and sadly not up to the figure it's based on, Pinky:st. OAV. To confirm my previous fear, it is in CG, and it is sort of creepy looking. Not as bad as the Bratz cartoon, but still sort of unsettling. I don't know, cheap CG just sort of gives off a distinctly American air. Anyway, the first DVD is due out on July 26th. So look for that if you're into that sort of thing.
And in the interests of keeping things happy for fans of eroge, Leaf has released a SFW trailer of their upcoming fully animated piece of software called Fullani. The title is a fantasy mahjong game… go figure. Sex in a mahjong title. Anything can happen, I guess. The game itself is due out on June 23rd and will run you 9,240 yen. Which is probably pretty fair for a fully animated game. Oh yeah, that also have a NSFW trailer. I would click that link if I valued my job. Yeah, I linked it. SO WHAT?! We're all mature people here! Don't click it if you don't like hot, wet mahjong action. And also sex.
I am not feeling too well today, so there won't be much news. I'm going to go home and sleep in a few minutes here. But aside from that, I figured I'd give you guys the skinny on the freebies that are going on. Well, the freebie. Anyway, Adult Swim's AdultSwimFix streaming video service is streaming out some full episodes of Paranoia Agent. It's the first episode, and it's dubbed, so your interest may vary, but still. Free is free. On May 26th, though, be sure to check out the Robot Chicken they're putting up. It's got an FFVII parody in it, and it's hella funny.
Man, I need to get more sleep. It can't be healthy staying up late and getting up at 8:30 every morning. But who cares! My Etna will be here soon! Woohoo! But, let's not waste time on these pleasantries as I have other things to do today. Important things.
Anime/Manga
There's a trailer up for Valerian and Laureline. It's an anime based on the comics that The Fifth Element was based on. It's a France/Japanese collab forizzle. Dawg.
FUNimation did a press release saying that it will be distributing TOKYOPOP's titles for them.
UFOTable announced that it was developing some Manabi Straight anime action for your juicy eyeballs.
Media Blasters will be releasing the Dubbed-only Voltron episodes for $39.95 on September 26th. Bastards.
ADV will be releasing the first disc of Papuwa on August 8th for $30. Exciting news to be sure.
The Appleseed Game Site is open for business. I really ought to watch that movie some time. Someone let me borrow their copy.
Apparently, there will be a full length CG Atagoul feature at some point in the future. It's called Atagoul wa Neko no Mori and it's due out this fall.
Hey, look. Nike shoes based on Naruto. Because for something to be a special edition Naruto shoe, it only needs too nearly invisible little logos that look roughly like their show-based counterparts.
If you're an English speaker and you're a big fan of Blood: The Last Vampire, then you'll be happy to know that some Chinese people are totally working on a live action film. Will there be wire-fighting? I said Chinese, didn't I?
Blah, blah, blah. Pokemon Chronicles. Cartoon blah Network. June 3rd at 7PM. It's so butchered, who cares?
I think there are actually some good ones this week. Ha!
Firstly, these Fate/stay night collection figures are due out in late September from Good Smile Company. THe box will hit you for 6,300 of your Japanese yens.
If you missed Max Factory's Etna PVC the first time around, they're giving you a second chance to pick her up in late August. Mine should be here any minute now. COME ONNNNN MAILMAN! She's still only a scant 4,800 yen.
Do you like Bakuretsu Tenshi? Well, if you do Alter is putting out Jo again. Late August again. 4,800 yen for her too.
I should say that they same goes for Meg, only she'll be costing you 4,680. Not really a good reason for that different… Maybe smaller boobs are harder to sculpt.
Masushiya has stopped being a bunch of dicks and is offering up some mass-produced items, at least one of which I ma pretty sure used to be mail order only.
The first, a gosurori maid version of Hoshino Ruri, is set for late July. Before you get too excited, she's 1/5 scale so that means you'll be laying down 20,790 yen for this sweet piece of figure.
Following that act is the item I'm fairly certain was mail order only in it's first run. But then, how could they resist mass producing their Kano Uncho figure. She's 1/5 scale as well, putting her at 40cm at her longest measurement. What does 40cms of cold cast resin run you these days? Well, with a paint job, it turns into about 24,990 yen. You can leave your wallets at Masushiya's doorstep in late July for this one.
I'm sure something came out for sale this weekend, but I sincerely don't have time to do that right now. On another note, I may be looking for someone to help me out with the site soon. If you read the posts and they share a vibe with how you feel, or maybe you're a sarcastic ass, then keep an eye out for future posts. I might be making a call for people, since work is going to sort of become an issue. Anyway, it won't be paid, so just remember that. Though, it will still be good experience and that is why I will likely be looking for college students or whatever. Anyway, my Etna is here, and I still have work so… damnit. KBAIUGUYZ! Server transfer should start in the next day or so.
P.S. If you're reading this, your DNS has updated and you're on the new dedicated server! Yippee!
Ok, I wasn't planning on doing any news today, but this is the hot sex, so I am not passing it up. Plus I have some announcement type dealies. So those will come after this hotness. Ok, well, today, Kaiyodo put a date on the latest addition to the Mon-Sieur BOME collection. The latest edition in questions is Ignis from Jingai Makyo. You'll remember, of course, that Max Factory also has an upcoming, and better looking (to me) Ignis, but I don't think this is a time to play favorites. Buy them both, I mean, after all, the Mon-Sieur Bome version is only going to cost you 4,725 yen. It you are digging this piece of Ignis, you will be able to grab it in late July. Although, the Max Factory version comes with her glasses. This cannot be ignored. Needs more megane-ko.
There's a picture up after the jump. moving on to the announcements, I want to thank the sites who linked my interview. Thanks to MangaNews, AnimeonDvD, theOtaku.com, AnimeNation, and anyone else whom I've missed. Secondly, and more importantly, the site's new dedicated server is set up, and we may be transferring the domain over to it this weekend. Allow me to apologize for any downtime between now and then, although there shouldn't be much, considering I will be paralleling the sites. With that in mind, this will be the only news item until the Weekend Rollup on Monday. Thanks for understanding.
