With Comiket just a few days away (August 11th) and E3 2007 basically canceled, it certainly is an interesting time for otaku of all shapes and sizes. That being said, ikimashou is contemplating some changes as well. I am keeping them secret for now, but I will be thinking about things and working on them and all that good stuff. Expect to know what I decided as we pull closer to 500 posts, which I currently stand a 445, so it is a ways off, but not too far. We'll see where I am at that point. Yes we will. On with the rollup, be it ever so spartan.
Anime/Manga/Games
Well for starters, E3 is off the map as a mega-convention. What does this mean? Well, it means I won't be going most likely. Damn it all.
Black Blood Brothers, a vampire action anime, has a trailer up… it's in English… The trailer is a minute and 57 seconds long and doesn't give me much hope for the future of humanity. How are the voice actors in Japan so bad? Why is this PV in English? Some of the sentences are even Engrish. It's… so bad.
And in Paprika news, the movie is due out here in March of next year, giving my October 2007 assumption a lot of credence. Feel free to link me from your high traffic websites.
Figures
We're starting to see the emergence of TsuyoKiss figures. Now, how come you didn't see more of these before the anime started? Did the ladies just start being attractive? What's the deal people?! This one is of Konoe, and it's due out in December for 4,500 yen. The part I like about this is that it's part of HobbyStock's tsundere collection. Haha. I like that kind of collection.
I almost get sick of writing about this because I a.) don't care about Dead or Alive and b.) realize that Kasumi is maybe the least attractive girl in the entire game. But, that being said, hey! Here's another 15,500 yen Kasumi figure! It's 15,540 to be precise and it will be out in September. I can hardly contain my excitement.
Lastly we've got thoe FMA brothers, Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric in all their posable glory. I normally don't post these types of things, but Alphonse looks like a badass, so I felt a need to do it. Plus this is the last of the figure news. Haha. Ed is 14,700 yen and Alphonse will be 18,900 yen, so they don't come cheap. Both
will be out in November.
Sorry about the slow rollup, blame the industry. It's not my fault. Plus I was busy all day. Kiss my ass. I ate McDonalds for lunch and it was bad. I am so sick of McDonalds. Someone open a Yoshinoya here. Have I said that before? I'm rambling to fill space for no valid reason! YAY!
Well, in a stroke of absolute… accident… it seems Sony as responded to my request for information. Personally, I found the response to be satisfying, as it more confirmed my initial thoughts on the matter, but let me relate it back to you as the Manager for Worldwide Publicity at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment gave it to me.
We do not have a DVD release date set for this title as of now, so whatever story you read unfortunately had the incorrect information.
That's cool. Makes sense, though it did come from a release list on the Sony Pictures website. But, let me explain to those among you quick to jump at information how these things work. I figured while I was at it, I'd ask if they were planning to dub the film, since this would supply me with a REAL answer as to whether the film would be coming out here any time soon, especially sooner than the Japanese market. The answer makes it clear.
As for the dubbing question, we typically do try to include a dub for the DVD, but again, no plans have been cemented for this DVD, so that is not 100% confirmed either.
So, considering that they haven't cemented any details regarding the DVD, especially a dub, it seems very unlikely that the date was anything other than a slip up. Generally there is some sort of default information that needs to be entered along with any addition of any title to a database, so that's what happened, a date was needed so a date was entered. My best guess in this situation is that they meant to put October 2007 as that makes a lot more sense. It will give them time to get a dub cast together and record a dub; it will give them time to add special features, and things like that; and frankly, it just makes a lot more sense. So there's your answer. A huge thanks to Sony Pictures for taking the time to respond. Maybe I've really hit the big time. Haha.
Well, I was sitting around looking at things, and I noticed there were a few trailers out that I could be a nice guy and link you to. Firstly, Project Blue Chikyuu SOS has a new flash-based trailer up on its site. I noticed a lot of reused footage from the last trailer, but who cares about that? It's something to do for a minute or two. Anyway, the sci-fi anime movie, with the all-star production cast, doesn't manage to arouse much of a feeling in me, but I'm a cynic, so there you go. The show, movie, OVA, whatever it is, I forget is due out in February and you can check out the trailer by heading to this page.
The other trailer that came out was for the new Naruto movie that's being released with the ridiculous name Gekijyouban Naruto Daikoufun! Mikazuki Shima no Animal Panic Dattebayo. That translates to Theatrical Naruto - Huge Excitement! The Animal Riot of Crescent Moon Island. It contains a creepy circus thing with animals and what looks like an escort mission. The animation goes for that theatrical aesthetic but doesn't look very high budget. Ah well, it's good fun. The trailer clocks in at a minute and thirty seconds, and comes in both low quality and high quality formats. The high quality trailer is probably best, but I put the whole thing on YouTube for you, so it's there after the jump. The movie is due out August 5th in Japan.
Ok, so I poached this from a comment on Heisei Democracy, and the actual story is on Pedolicious.net, but this is why sharing was invented, right?! Ok, well check it out, an absolutely amazing picture of a Suzumiya Haruhi resin kit as surfaced. The paint job is absolutely top notch, the carve on the resin kit is super screen accurate, and Haruhi is sporting an awesomely modeled guitar. Just wow all day. She's in the bunny suit, by the way. I put the smaller picture up after the jump, but there is a much larger, more detailed one at the link above. Check it out, for great justice. Here's hoping Max Factory, or one of that crowd, picks it up and makes it a PVC.
Yes, it's after the jump, but a bigger, nicer one is at the link above. I would link it directly, but that is uncouth.
Edit: Here's some info Waterfall went and dug up for everbody. It's in the comments down below, but you lazy fuckers don't scroll down.
According to the blog サイコロキャラメルの謎(Ed: Saikoro Kyarameru no Nazo, Mystery of Dice Caramels?), which belongs to the creator of this awesome custom resin figurine, Suzumiya-sama will be on sale during the next World Hobby Festival to be held in Kobe on July 30th (and not the more popular Wonder Festival Summer to be held next month in Tokyo). Details as follows:
* Price: 12,000 yen (~100 USD)
* Availability: 200 pieces
* Type: unpainted and unassembled resin kit
* Limited to one per person
Well, WHF is held in Kobe, just a bit away from Osaka.
This comes as an odd bit of news to me. I guess if I followed US licensing better it might make sense? I don't know. Anyway, Sony Pictures has announced that they plan to release Paprika on DVD in America on October 31st. Why is this odd, do you ask? Well, the movie isn't even going to see release in Japan until next year, and that's a theatrical release. I mean, I'm a long time fan of Sony in general, but is this a nod to the American anime market? Why are they doing it? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I will see if I can get into contact with some people at Sony to find something out.
Good god, you just have to love Good Smile Company for putting this bad boy out. They announced that they will be releasing a Mesousa figure. The figure will come with all manner of inter-changable parts, such that you can capture his various emotions, and will also be accompanied by his friends the Japanese Giant Salamander and Nekokami-sama (desunya). I submit that this figure is too awesome for anyone to bitch about it pushing Ignis down the page. However, I must say that, while I've been calling for more Pani Poni figures, this isn't quite what I meant. Ah well! How much would you expect to pay for such an awesome figure? Well, hopefully your said 3,000 yen or else you're a sucker. And hopefully you want it to come out in October, else you are disappointed.
Now, I know all of you are sitting here thinking exactly the same thing I am. "I see all these Ignis figures, but none of them really demonstrate that she is from some eroge… where are the nipples?!" Well, Orchid Seed gives you a resounding "Right here, motherfuckers!" and announces a 1/8 (I'm assuming from the price) scale Ignis from Jingai Makyo, and this time, her dress just happens to have suffered from some sort of tearing right around the breast area. That's right, the nipples are out there. Don't worry, the pictures I'm posting won't show them. We're safe for work here… mostly. At any rate, the carve on this figure looks ok. I'm not really liking the awkward scaling on the hair and the dress details. These are things you notice when you are a pro at spending too much money. And is that a seam right above the glove line on her right arm? Tsk, tsk. Just the same, if you're looking for an ero Ignis figure and you don't want to cop the cash for a resin kit, or lack the prowess to assemble one, this is a decent solution to your problems for a mere 5,800 yen. She's due out in November.
Five pictures up after the jump, be sure to give them a glance. All the naughty bits are covered. Sorry. That's just how we roll. I know I like browsing my site at work, and you should too! I might change it one day, who knows.
Here I am again, posting more news. This time it's that really gross looking anime movie, Tekkon Kinkreet. The short story is that they've release a new trailer for it and that makes everyone happy and want to make lots of hugging motions. The long story is that the trailer is a minute and twenty-two seconds long, and comes in four formats, excluding the YouTube version I uploaded. The formats are narrowband WMV, wideband WMV, narrowband QuickTime, and, of course, wideband QuickTime. Personally, I recommend the YouTube version…
And what a coincidence! I put it up right after the jump for easy viewing. I must love you guys! Maybe not, though, as this anime is still fucking horrible to behold.
Avex opened its official website for LOVEDOLL ~Lovely Idol~ and announced that the show would be premiering on TV this October. The site itself is sort of crap. How does a production company manage to get a blurry, low-quality banner image. But nit-picky bitching aside, Avex is having a contest to see a screening of the first episode of the show for the winner and a friend. That's a pretty slick move, I think. Ah well, you have to live in Japan to qualify, so I doubt any of you will be entering. Check out the site for details if you ARE in Japan though. YEAH!
I am posting this while I have a few minutes between work things. I will try to get some other shit posted on the quickfast as well, otherwise it will all go up later tonight with the other figure thingies.
Well, three sexy new Sumomomo Momomo figures were announced from Toys Works. Let's have a look see! Hm… Ok, we've got Iroha, Uma, and, of course, Momoko. Uma is sporting the most impossible nippleless boobs in the world. It's just an angle that should have nipples. I mean, come on! Anyway, all three of the figures border on the ecchi side of the scale. Uma's the most indecent, but still keeps things censored. Momoko will give you your apron only fix, and Iroha seems to be sporting some mysterious white stuff on her face and chest… probably some sort of frosting. Oh, it's ice cream. All of the figures will be out in September (looks like I might have found my September purchase… all three?! CAN IT BE DONE!?) and the 1/8 scale figures will run you 5,040 each.
There's a good number of pictures. YAY! Uma is up first, so maybe keep an eye out at work, just in case. Sort of hard to explain that sort of thing to some people. I will post the other figures tomorrow. These need to sit at the top of the post list for a while, me thinks. I am seriously considering getting all three of these. Opinions?!
