July 2006

This is the really nice figure I was talking about being excited about on Monday. It's a beautifully carved 1/6 scale figure of Mint Blancmanche from Galaxy Angel. Well, let me prattle on about it for a minute so that you have to wait to see the images. The figure itself stands 175mm tall and it's due out in October. The figure is going to run you 7,350, but don't fret just yet. Well, I guess fret, but once you see the shots of this thing you are going to want it anyway! I am thinking about making this my October purchase. Wow. It's from… Daiki Industry. Not sure who they are. Ok, ok. I will put the picture up now!

That's right! NOW! I guess there's only one. Hobby Japan lied to me. Ah well, still want.

Well, Ichigo Mashimaro fans can rejoice, or something. There's another wonderful looking IchiMashi figure on the way and this time it's Micchan. YAY! She's dressed very nicely in a skirt-suit and hat that gives off a really classic, 60s sort of feel. Regal 60s, not drug-induced stupor 60s. I mean, it's a pretty typical Stewardess outfit, but it still looks nice the way they've modeled and colored it. She comes sitting on a plane seat, which makes for the possibility for expanding the set of figures (Please, Konami? Maybe Matsuri looking terrified of planes?) and will certainly make her look better on your figure shelf. She will be out in October for 4,200 yen.

Five shots after the jump. YAY! NINJA MIU!

I'm not sure if or how these are related to the Modular Busou Shinki figures that Konami announced not to long ago, but Konami announced three Busou Shin Hime MMS figures. The ladies, Tsugaru, the EX Weapon Set figure; Beni Itogushi, the Samurai type figure; and Saifosu, the Kishi (Knight) type, all seem to have modular parts on their bedoies to allow for expandability and customization. Konami's really getting into the super cross promotion stuff lately and they've been blitzing just about every market. Interesting to see. Anyway, Tsugaru looks sort of bad. The color choices for her are just sort of poo and she's a bit loaded down with weapons. Too much of good thing? Beni looks sort of nice. Again, she's packing more weapons than should be allowed in any sane figure. The colored version of Beni will really make or break it, same for Saifosu. Saifosu is looking the best of the lot here. Again, she could go horribly wrong. I don't know, the sample drawings that put next to the prototypes aren't inspiring a lot of confidence. I put them all up after the jump. You're looking at 3,675 yen each this December, or 1,785 for Tsugaro, since that might just be a weapon set? Whatever. The whole thing is misleading.

Well, them all meaning the one picture of each. I'd really like to bitch about my job right now(worked until ten…), but I have lots more figure shit to post. Someone thank me, PLEASE! After all these figure things, I have to do Hump Day Doujin over at Onii-chan no Ecchi. Damn it all! YOU GUYS BETTER ENJOY THIS!

A new period drama anime called Ayakashi Ayashi is set to premiere this October on MBS/TBS. The show is a group effort from Aniplex, BONES, and MBS. Apparently, they are thinking pretty high of the show as they're giving it the old Gundam Seed/Fullmetal Alchemist timeslot. The official site for the series is already pre-opened, and blah blah blah. I can't get into that character design on the page. I guess I will hold of my rampant opinion forming for a bit. Nothing will be Miyako in PPD 25 for Samurai win though.

Oh yeah, and I'm still busy at work, but I promise you guys a fuck ton of figures tonight. They dropped a bunch today. Very exciting. Even a Mesousa figure. I am sooo buying that one. Look for them later. :D

Hey guys, there was only one figure over the weekend, and since I hate American companies, I decided not to mention licenses for the weekend. There weren't a whole ton, but who cares. So, as you might have guessed, this is going to be an Anime Only edition of the Weekend Rollup, and the figure will get its own post, since it's a nice figure. So let's get on with it!

Anime

That's all for now. I will post that figure in a bit. I'm behind a bit with some coding. Well, not really, just the fact that I should be doing it at all, and I'm posting this. But it'll be my 15 minute break. Haha. Posting might be a bit slow this week for that very reason. Sorry, it's how life is sometimes. You will learn to cope.

Well, Gainax lovers (which I would like to count myself among, but they're just failing to excite me lately. COME ON GAINAX!) there is more information on their upcoming series, Neon Genesis Eureka seveN. The series will be about a whiny boy named Renton and his dealings with the ever silent Eureka and the red headed… wait, wait… sorry. I got all confused. Let's get on to the news, then. Konami has opened their end of the site, and judging from the graphics, I'd say they're fairly excited to be teaming up with aniplex and Gainax. That's to be expected. You can't pair with a group without being totally PR stoked! The Konami site is mainly just gay panning across highly compressed images. I did see some butt crack on the chick though. That makes it worth a visit.

Both that site and this very informative AV Watch article tell us that the show will be starting in early 2007, so that's fun. I imagine we will be hearing about it all the way until then. The AV Watch article has a good deal of text (typical stuff for pre-release banter. They're all excited to work together to bring you cross promotional ass, etc.) and it has some initial character design shots. Those are worth taking a look at, but that's about it. There's also a prototype for one of the mech figures. I'm unimpressed. I sure hope they save the Earth from all the angels by passing through the Great Wall, anyway.

That's all the news for today. There's some American licensing shit from Comic-con, but I don't care about it, so I will roll it all up on Monday.

Oh, well, I guess the carvers at Kotobukiya just absolutely felt a need to make volleyballs for all their August releases (well, not ALL, but still). I say this because I have yet another bikini figure, and she's holding another volley ball. It's like… some sort of… sports lovers dream. Anyway, this time it's Dead Or Alive's Hitomi getting the bikini and balls treatment. I'm sure she's used to both by now. You know, because of the Xtreme Beach Volleyball game. Certainly nothing to do with testicles. Anyway, she's sporting some nice under-cleavage and a bear face on her backside. I'll say those bother of those areas look nice, but the face is sort of gross and the figure looks pretty shiny in a few of the shots. Oh well! None of my business, since I don't want it anyway. She's due out in August for 8,190 yen. It might sound steep, but she's a 1/6 scale PVC and she stands 270mm tall.

Four pictures after the jump… volleyball included.

Yeah, I could type Ohno, but I'm being a stuff dick about it because I don't type Ohno into my IME and get anything. BWAHAHA! Anyway, Kotobukiya brings the funk back with their new Kanako Oono Beach Volley Ball figure. Yes, it's Oono (that's what you type to get the kanji for her name, don't blame me); yes, she's wearing bikini; yes, it's very likely too small for her. That's a lot of winning combinations, I say. She's due out in August for a scant 5,040 yen and she stands 215mm tall. It's not up for pre-order yes, I don't think, but keep your eyes open.

Three shots of the lovely lady after the jump.

Well, we had a bit of a ToHeart figure drought there for a while, but all that is over now. "How over is it," I hear you cry? Well, I guess that depends on how much you consider one figure to be the end of a dry spell. But at least the one figure is bursting at the seams with… breasts. Kotobukiya has announced a 1/7 scale figure of everyone's favorite ToHeart 2 girl, Tama-nee, Kousaka Tamaki. The insufficienly-sized black-bikini will be released this November… I mean, the figure will. ALong with the bikini. The figure is wearing the bikini. Anyway, she will cost you 7,140 yen.

There's a crap shot after the jump. Don't blame me. There, I found a sexy clear picture for you guys. It's second after the jump, obviously.

Sorry, sorry. I just thought this would be fun to post. You guys suck for not agreeing. Jeez. (I am assuming none of you will support me here) Enomoto Daisuke, a "space tourist" as people are fond of calling them, it seems, has said that he will be heading to the International Space Station dressed as Char from the — ok, now wait for this part, it's a good quote — "cult Japanese anime series" Gundam. Wow, here I was thinking Gundam was mainstream enough to keep an entire company running all around the world on a single franchise. Last I checked, Rocky Horror Picture Show wasn't pulling the sort of numbers that a shitty HG Tallgeese III could, let alone a PG Wing Zero Custom or something. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, best of luck to Dice-K in his mission to save the colonies! We're all cheering you on, even if some of us hate Gundam, because you are one of us, and so we are there with you! *gets all teary eyed* Godspeed, sir. *salutes*
