August 2006

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that they'll be bringing the ultra relax game Boku no Natsuyasumi to the PS3 game. The game, whose title translates to My Summer Vacation, will take place over the course of two weeks during which to struggle to afford your apartment while balancing your part time job and going to cram school. No, no, that's how things really are… sorry. The game is actually a relaxing do-whatever game that is attempting to bring back the feeling of childhood through such relaxing and carefree activities as fishing, catching bugs, and watching fireworks go off at night. Not date is set on this one, it's apparently pretty early in the development cycle, but I expect it should come along nicely, and will hopefully live up to the original that came out on the PS1 in 2000.

Also, after a bit of digging around, I noticed that Boku no Natsuyasumi is getting a PSP game as well. Woohoo!

OH NOEZ! Well, maybe this will actually make the game sexier… you know, if you're into tan lines. I find them to be inviting. Haha. Anyway, the latest version of the Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball will feature the introduction of tanlines. Of course, this is the most important addition, but there will also be dancing, jetskiing, and an increase in the minigame count to five. But, back to that tanline thing. The tan line system will make lines of, I think, the last suit the girl was wearing whenever you switch to a new one. Not sure about that. I'm sure it'll required some lounging in the sun, and I'm not sure if the old tan lines go away or if they compound for a few days. Famitsu's article says that several suits worth of lines will stay visible. Certainly, if it can make Famitsu get all moe, then it's a well made system. The game is set for release later this year.

Because I am a lech, I nabbed Famitsu's pictures and put them up after the jump. I left their watermarks on because I have no shame. Haha.

I was worn out this weekend. Not sure why. I'm still feeling worn out. I haven't gotten a chance to just be a slothful ass in the past few weeks. Though I took a long nap this weekend. That's not really the same though. Apprently, not a whole lot happened this weekend. In fact, there's only about… 10 things or so. No matter! I will roll them up anyway! ROLLY ROLLY ROLL! I've got some computer upgrades on the way. This will not improve your site-viewing experience, but it will improve mine. And it's all about me, after all. Rollin' time!

Anime/Manga/Games

  • Say, do you guys like the site? I mean, honestly. Do you think it's a good news/entertainment source? I mean, I do. Just sayin'.
  • Sony's announced that they will have 27 playable PS3 games at TGS, which starts September 22nd. There is a boring teaser page here.
  • If you ever secretly wanted a Pikachu moped, then look no further! Well, maybe a little…
  • Age Soft has announced plans for a new Kimi ga Nozomu Eien anime. It'll be called Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: Haruka Route. No other information was given, mostly because the announcement picture was only up for a few hours on Age Soft's site before it got pulled. Not fast enough, Age.
  • MAR is getting yet a third anime TV series. Well, I guess you could call it a season. Whatever. It wil be called MAR: Chapter of Cravea and will premiere in November.
  • GiTS: SAC - SSS will have its first showing at Shinjuku theater on September 9th. Originally, it was supposed to hit on DVD first, then be aired on TV. Kooky.
  • And Haruhi fans might be interested to see Flower Thief's DVD/TV comparison shots of Suzumiya Haruhi DVD 2.

Figures

  • Konami announced the second round of Busou Shinki figures. Type Dog, Type Cat and so on. You can check them out over here.
  • Orchid Seed announced a lovely Ryomou Shimei figure. Though it's not screen accurate, it looks nice. Busty. Nice skirt-in-the-wind action. She's due out this December for 6,800 yen.
  • Musashiya announced a cold cast… Ikkitousen figure. They're billing it as Ryomou, but it's looking more like Kanu to me. I mean, I don't know. Maybe I'm going crazy. Though, it is a shitty figure to begin with. But don't let that stop you. This 1/5 scale figure will run you 20,790 yen this November.
  • Leading from that, Musashiya has also decided to grace us with the single ugliest rendering of Narusegawa Naru that I have ever seen. Honestly, I don't know how they're putting something this ugly on the market. The bitch is cross-eyed for fuck sake! But hey! It's a good way to finish off the rollup! A full 1/5 scale serving of concentrated ugly will cost you 20,790 yen this November.

And that's it! Now I have some shit I have to do. So, you know… go about your business. Sorry the figure news sucked so hard. It's a real shame. Here's a mildly NSFW link to a better looking Ikkitousen figure. Yeah. Good stuff. I will be making some more avatars later for people who care. And main banners as well. Anything you guys would like to see put in the avatar/top banner pool? Let me know!

If you're a fan of Mai-HiME then no doubt you've seen the resin kits of open-shirt Mai and gun-toting Natsuki. Well, now those two are getting PVCed for the enjoyment of fans and generally perverse 2D-cons the planet over. That's right! Griffon Enterprises will be releasing PVC versions of both! Let's take a closer look, shall we? First up is Mai. The figurehead of the show, who I feel was over-powered by Natsuki in terms of likability. I mean, sure, Natsuki was a bitch, but who ever said you have to be nice to the protagonist? Anyway, open-shirt Mai is sure to bring joy to the hearts of her fans. The carve looks to be high quality with a good paint-job all around. The eyes are nicely painted, not too flat, and are expressive. I especially like the detail in her neck area. Very nice. Certainly a good buy. She'll run you 5,880 yen this November. She's 1/7 scale and about 100mm tall (on account of the pose)

Moving on to Natsuki, we find her holding her guns in a cross-over style out in front of her and she's wearing her typical school uniform. While I am not a fan of the sock/shoe color combination I have to say that this is an excellent looking figure. My only minor gripe other than the colors would be the flatness of the hair over her forehead. It sort of draws the eye into the smoothness of the top, but that is super minor at best. As a huge plus, her skirt is just short enough in the back to catch a glimpse of some sexy curves. Sorry, I'm being a pervert again. She's 1/7 scale, about 200mm tall and she's also 5,880 yen and due out in November.

Seven of Mai and six of Natsuki. Please to enjoy and have a good weekend!

Whew, only one more post after this one. Jeez. Anyway, Yamato announced, via their Creators' Labo line, a special pink colored version of their CL Meg figure from Bakuretsu Tenshi. Again, this carve is by the good folks are Cerberus Project, and there's not a whole like I can really say about it. Her expression is a bit weird and the stance is awkward, but the detailing and technical prowess behind the carve or top quality. The 1/7 scale Meg stands about 275mm tall and will run you 7,140 yen this November.

Only two shots after the jump. I was like WTF?!

You know what I was JUST this very moment thinking to myself? I don't have enough Ikkitousen figures! I sure wish someone would make some more! And lo, my earnest prayers were answered by Yamato in the form of a Ryofu figure in the Story Image Figure Extra line. Despite the negative stigma surrounding the SIF EX figure line, Ryofu is looking pretty good. She's sporting her typical red jacket and skirt combo and she's holding her halberd in hand, which itself is nicely detailed. The coloring is a little dark and it certainly isn't the best Ryofu out there, but it's a pretty good figure, especially for Ikkitousen fans. Not sure about the price though. She's 1/8 scale and will cost you 6,090 yen this November.

Five top quality shots after the jump.

Ok, the title is misleading. She's not fuzzy. But the fur lining of her… swimsuit… thing? is fuzzy. Clearly another part of Yamato's November lineup, Morrigan is sitting in a cross legged pose that seems to say "I am not going to be bothered by you, you dirty geota." Well, that's fine by me, because her ass has a flat spot. Anyway, in the sitting position this 1/6 scale figure is about 168mm tall and 257mm wide. So, a good size for a girl with her back and legs bent. She's also be sculpted using a more realistic facial structure, and it works well because the person who sculpted it isn't an ass, and can actually do it. But don't get too excited. All this glamour is going to cost you. How much? Well, this November she can be yours for 20,790 yen. Ouch.

Three shots post jump-style.

Boy howdy, you have to like the Tandem Twin figures. Yamato has announced two of them. The first we're going to look at is the Lynx (Topaz) figure. As far as I can tell this is an updated version of the Lynx (Ruby) figure. It's not just a color swap, it's got several changes, including an more interesting looking sword and what appears to be a missing eye or some such thing. I like the look of this one better than the original. She's due out in November for 7,140 yen. Not too bad for a 260mm tall 1/6 scale figure.

Next up we have the Sheep (Urara or Rei). Not sure what urara means there. The closest I think there is "lovely" or "companion" though, it has other pronunciations. I'm going with "lovely" because of phrases words like karei(佳麗) which means beauty or splendor. Whatever, moving on. Sheep-chan is dressed a but more suggestively, despite her wearing more clothes, generally. Her thong and hard nipples make her a bit NSFW, you're warned. She is much happier looking that Lynx, as you'd expect from a Sheep, I guess. I like this one better of the two. She'll be out in November for 7,140 yen as well.

Four for Lynx and five for Sheepy after the jump.

Well, if you haven't been satisfied with the recent offerings of designs based on Yoshitoshi ABe's work, then maybe this will make you feel a little better about it. Just announced from Yamato is a PVC of Rakka from Haibane Renmei. Seemingly typical of Yoshitoshi Abe inspired figures, this version of Rakka sports a bit of an eclectic look and coloring style, sticking with the more natural raw colors you'd expect to see from an unfinished figure, but filling in just enough muted, yet similar color to make it stand out. At first glance, I'd say it's much better than the recent Lain figure, but that's up to the person to decide. She's about 150mm long, not sure which direction that's measuring, though. She's out in November for 5,040 yen.

Hit the jump for five shots.

This figure won't be familiar to lots of you, just like Win-chan. She's from the an art book called Mine bluE by Yoshizaki Mine. It's a good book worth picking up. And speaking of OS Idol Win-chan, Mine is the character designer on that one as well. So that gives fans an incentive to take a look. Anyway, the figure in questions is pretty much just being called Mine bluE#010, but a more apt description would include that she is a busty, bikini clad girl on a relaxing summer ride. It's wonderfully sculpted by the good people at Cerberus Project, and is an absolute steal at 8,190 yen. You can grab your own this November from Yamato.

Five quality shots up after the jump. Oh yeah, and since there are no shots of them, here are some figumate's of Prince of Tennis. January for 4,200 yen.
