Well, I could be negative and say that BakuTen wasn't a very good anime, but it served its purpose and brought us all a little closer together with eye candy and a story that could cure narcolepsy… well, up through episode 16 anyway. I never made it past that. I feel weak. Anyway, to make up for that short coming, Vice has announced a pair of Amy figures — a set, if you will. The shots of the figures are almost criminally low-res, but from what I can see there the carves look pretty good. The two figures sport two nice and dynamic poses. The first, dressed the same as the second minus the jacket, is covering her exposed hind-parts and doing that coy backwards look that we all love so much. The second is a more "genki" figure that shows Amy balancing playfully on one foot. It looks like she's on a pegboard base so I would expect some possibility of warpage. Both of the figures are about 200mm tall and they will be out in December for 10,080 yen.
Only one depressingly unsatisfying shot after the jump. Was that redundant?
Hey you wacky boys and girls! Looks like the only piece of anime news that is floating around today comes to me by way of those Singapore kids. Namely TJ Han noticed a screen at the end of School Rumble Season 2 mentioned that they "will be continuing." The screen doesn't mention HOW they will be continuing their show, but it will most likely be in the form of a TV series or OVA. I'm going to go on a limb and rule out a movie. Which is more likely though? I think a TV series would be pretty easy to carry off with the popularity and success of the series up to this point. I'll keep you guys updated on this as information comes in.
Oh, and in completely unrelated news, my motherboard friend itself last night… not sure how. I am never buying refurbed equipment again. Also, Shingo and his personal Democracy finally got their image girl. Demo-tan now graces the top banner, gloriously doing something… I dunno. The artwork was done for him by the talented people at Clockwork Machina. Check them out. That's a free plug, you guys. That's how I roll.
I know the title of this post is superfluous, I just wanted to type Emma from Emma to be… I dunno, does that make me a dick? Does that count? Now, I know I always harp on Max Factory's awesome quality figures, but what they've done with Emma is nothing short of amazing. I mean, they stayed mostly true to the style of the manga, and kept the figure from being an ass-ugly atrocity, like the manga. It makes me wish they'd spend less time fucking around with those mech figures. You hear me Max?! I pre-order your figures like it's some sort of addiction! Make more! Anyway, our 1/7 scale Emma is wearing her normal, conservative maid outfit and glasses. She's looking inquisitively to the side, as if she's just been called by a familiar voice. The figure itself is fantastic. There is a lot of detail in the ample clothing that adorns Emma, the slip (or whatever you want to call the under-dress) has been expertly modeled and the awesome folds and layering really bring out the obvious differences in the different types of fabric that make up her outfit. The glasses are finely made such that they are not stubby or poorly proportioned to the 245mm tall figure. Awesome work. She will be out in January for 6,800 yen.
Eight glorious pictures of Max Factory goodness after the jump. Yes, fanboy. So sue me. Alter is a close second, though.
I swear to all that is holy, Iroha has been getting a shit ton of figures lately. Did something happen with Samurai Spirits that I missed? Anyway, everyone's favorite dual-blade wielding French maid is back again, this time Iroha comes in the form of a 1/8 PVC from Daiki Industry. Iroha is in a more… supplicant pose this time around. She's laying in that typical "Japanese woman fell down" pose and touching a spot on her top that's been cut. Certainly, a good thing. For us. Sadly, her chest has also taken a bit of a scratch in the incident. Unforgivable!! Who did this?! Rally the troops! Ahem… she stands about 100mm tall because of the post, and at her longest (from foot to the edge of her apron) she is 145mm or so. A decent size, but it's not the most well made figure in the world not sure if I'd want it for that price with other companies putting out better work for the price. She will run you 5,880 yen this December.
A whole cockful of pictures after the jump. Can never get too many, I say.
You know, I catch a lot of shit for not liking Gundam, but it's just such a milked franchise. It drives me crazy. I'll say, though, Poppy isn't really helping with this unimpressive 1/7 scale Fllay Allster Figure. I mean, maybe she looks like that normally, but the face is looking a bit odd. The rest of the body looks good, but it's a bit hard to tell with the low quality picture that came out. Still, if you like Fllay then you will likely want this one, but be careful the price tag on this 230mm tall figure could stop that purchase pretty quick. She's going to cost a crazy 13,440 yen this December. I guess it's not that crazy for a Polystone figure. Whatever.
So, Ghost in the Shell: Man-Machine Interface fans can rejoice a little because Vice has announced plans to release their Aramaki Motoko PVC, which was announced earlier this year at Comic Con. The figure in question is a pretty decent carve. I personally don't feel like it captures Masamune's beautiful art, but it still does a pretty decent job, especially if you're a figure starved GitS2 fan. The figure is 1/8 scale and stands about 190mm tall. It's a shame there aren't some better pictures to go along with it. Oh well, I will let the one they supplied speak for itself. She's due out in December for 6,090 yen.
One shot after the jump-a-rino. Shirow draws the sexy biatches.
So today's a bit of a departure. We have no new anime/manga sort of news and only good figure news. Amazing. But good! Especially good when you consider that Good Smile Company did their January announcements today, and so here they all are in one convenient place for your convenience. There's more coming after these, but don't worry, I'm adding this to the featured posts so you don't miss anything.
First up, we've got a very impressive Majikina Mina figure from Samurai Spirits. Why is it impressive? Well for one, it's got sex appeal. The pose is fabulous and the carve is damn good. More than that, though, this is pulled off even though it's a 1/5 scale figure. I've found that a lot of the larger figures tend to suffer either in the pose or the carve department (not that they need to… it's like some cosmic conspiracy) however, this Mina comes through. What is even more amazing to me is that GSC has managed to make a shiny paint on the hair look good and in place. Oh, and from the looks of it, that top comes off. Don't quite me on it, but it's certainly not molded onto her. Probably the most amazing thing is that she is only going to cost 7,800 yen. With people asking 9,200+ for some 1/6 scales lately, that's a damn good price. Especially for a figure that stands 290mm tall
Next up! ToHeart 2 XRATED fans will be pleased — and maybe this is just my failing brain, but I don't think I've seen more than one of her yet — with this well carved Yuzuhara Konomi. While I do like the carve and the colors (the eyes match the gakusei fuku nicely), I am a little confused by what motion is being implied in the pose. Is she suddenly squatting a little? That is my best guess. Still, she is a good looking 1/8 scale figure and she stands 180mm tall. These figures really make me feel like GSC is catching up to Alter and Max for consistency in good carvings. She's going to run you 4,800 yen in January, per the title of the post.
Thirdly, it looks like GSC is entering the Pangya figure game… unless they did already… Anyway their entry for this January will be a very sexy 1/8 scale Arin. Looking at this figure there isn't much that I don't like. Seriously. The club looks nice, though I'd worry about bending, but otherwise it's a great figure. The attention to detail paid in the tightness of the top and Arin's particular curves is outstanding. This figure serves as an excellent example of how good a figure can be without a dynamic pose. Arin comes complete with a cat bag sporting the Ntreev Soft logo. Definitely a good addition to any shelf. She stands 220mm tall and will hit your wallet for 5,300 yen come the New Year.
And last, but certainly not least, we've got some fun in the form of tare Rin from Fate/stay night. GSC is putting her out with a couple of different poses and accessories. I'm most excited about Rin's new pink Caddie. Oh man. that thing is slick. I almost want to get one of these. I could get it and get Saber and I could crash them together and stuff. Man. To be a kid again. *whimsy* Ok, enough of that. Also January, 100mm tall, and she'll run you 4,000 yen.
Of course, pictures of each after the jump. I forgot to count, but you'll forgive me. There's a lot. Enough to make you happy. And of course, they're in order per their respective paragraphs. My Maritan books got here today, by they way. They are hilarious.
I know I am probably a food for posting this in the middle of the night, as no one will see it, but whatever. I was browsing around on 4chan and I saw myself one of the single greatest figure innovations that I can begin to imagine. Honestly, Oono-sama looks a little silly, but I forgive her. She's sporting a towel around that ridiculously big set of breasts and one on her head. I'm not sure who is putting this on out, but the carve looks good. And for fuck sake! The boobs jiggle! According to the page, it's due out in January. I don't see a price.
One page that I found after the jump. Please feel free to add any information in the comments. I'll be sure to put it into the post.
So, nothing really very interesting came out of TGS this year, except this fucking sexy Shirokishi trailer. You can grab hold of all the info at 1up, or kotaku, or Joystiq. That's up to you. I will say, I am fucking hyper excited for the PS3, and I'm glad to see the community turning around a bit and losing some of the negative BS. It will be a good system. Alrighty then, enough about all that. Let's move on!
Anime/Manga/Games
HOLY FUCKING SHIT GENSHIKEN ANIME GOODNESS!!! I must complain about how Ogiue looks though. Hopefully it's just a crappy still. The Kujian manga looks pretty good too. My homie Os is the source on this. Way to actually do something useful! Hahaha. I burned you good. But seriously, FUCKING WOOOOO! MORE GENSHIKEN ANIME!! I'm excited. But to sober it down a little, it looks like the anime will only be a special addon to Kujian DVD releases. So in total it looks like we'll only be getting 3 new episodes as part of the special edition Kujian boxes which will likely run 14,490 yen.
Just for fun, ADV announced the licenses for UFO Valkyrie 3, Moeyo Ken, and Coyote Ragtime Show.
FUNimation announced a license for Peach Girl. Ewwwww.
Waiiii! A 90-second SumomomoMomomo trailer is up on BIGLOBE. Sadly, if you aren't packing Internet Explorer with Flash Player, you won't be watching it. Sorry Mac/Linux kids. Blame BIGLOBE. It wouldn't even work on my machine, so don't be sad. I tried to rip out the FLV, but they have some serious obfuscation going on.
Here's what people are calling a 3-minute long Paprika trailer subtitled in English, but it looks more to be like it was leaked post-production footage. Oh well, it's been YouTubed as well. This shit is pretty surreal and terrifying. Why to all anime movies take on that aesthetic? That man exploded… I guess it was a dream.
Lastly for trailers, there's ANOTHER trailer up for the Death Note live-action movie Part 2. This one is the full 2 minute theatrical style trailer, so that's good. That shit still looks totally awesome. Oh man. Here's the YouTubiness. the YouTube should be up shortly. It was lagging behind. You MUST check this one out.
The Les Miserables: Shoujo Cossette anime has had its website officially pre-opened. The series is slated for 52-episodes with a 90-minute special pilot episode. (Pilot means first episode, people.)
Ghost Hunt also had its website pre-opened… Turn your speakers down though. It fucking thunders every 10 seconds and it's loud as hell. Sometimes I wonder about these web designers.
The only thing there was was some Busou Shinki stuff, that I am linking because the bottom of the picture seems to explain the gimmick a little bit. So here it is. I'm still wary of these. Did anyone grab one? Are they out yet? I think they drop this month. Let me know if you have any or plan to get any and then tell me what's up with them.
Sorry about the lack of figure business. I hope the trailers make up for it. I'm sure there will be some good figure filled sexiness later this week. It's about time for that stuff with the new month creeping in. Boy howdy. I tell you, I'm excited for the PS3 and all the good figures I've got on pre-order. Now I just need some extra cash. Hmmm… hmmm… Oh well. Also, I've been watching gunXsword. It's really good. WEEEE! Off to work I go.
There is a trailer, well a second trailer, online for the upcoming Atagoal wa Neko no Mori 3DCG movie. The trailer might strike some people as cute and touching, but it kind of freaked me out honestly. I don't like looking at the cat. Well, the main cat Hideyoshi. Hiteko is the little thing… I have no idea what she is. She things the fat gross cat is her dad. Whatever, I don't like it… you should check out the trailer for yourself though.
The streaming trailer is up here, with a narrowband one on the site, and the YouTube is up after the jump. Sadly, there was nothing for figures today. Oh well, I will do a TGS rollup next week along with the regular weekend stuff. Look forward to it. I will try not to lock myself out of my office again.
