Well, isn't that about a bitch. Square Enix announced at TGS that they would be releasing an extended version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in Japan. The extended version will be called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete and will include extra scenes that were left out of the original and will be released in orgasm inducing Blu-Ray format (Yes, I am purchasing it). And despite GameSpot saying that the Blu-Ray version didn't look that amazing, my experience with the difference in regular movies vs. Blu-Ray shows it to be a vast improvement for people whose eyes work. Apparently all they saw was a short trailer of the film, so it's unclear how much new footage there is or if it's more like the "Unrated" version of American films where they add the word shit one extra time. According to AC.net and the wonderful MediaWorks, it might just be scene re-editing. But I'm sure there's some new stuff. That's how Square rolls.
September 2006
In a manner that we've come to expect new series and movie announcements, Inukami has announced that it will magically turn itself into a motion picture. You may remember that Shana announced a second season, Bleach announced a movie, and I think Jigoku Shoujo announced something that way. I tried to find a screen shot of the damn thing, but none of the bloggers covering it (I'm talking about you Hinano and randomc.) decided to toss up a screen of the announcement. Oh well, MoonPhase is good enough. No release date has been announced as of yet.
Well, clearly after doing the figures yesterday, I saw that this site was online, but I figured it was old news and I didn't want my come-uppance and all that. But anyway, the official site for the TV anime based on the Densha Otoko opening is online and pre-opened for your viewing pleasure. Actually, yesterday it was still the old site, I guess. Whatever. Moon Phase never lies. I expect this series to be fuck hot. GONZO better not go dropping balls. It premieres in January.
Comptiq Magazine announced that the yonkoma, Lucky Star, by Kagami Yoshimizu will be adapted into an television anime. For those of you not in the know, yonkoma, or 4-koma, is a four panel verticle comic that tend to be the rough equivalent of our Peanuts and Garfield type comics. I tend to hear a lot of criticisms about the medium because most of them tend to suck. As for Lucky Star, I am super stoked because of all the moe sex apeal and ahoge. You should be as well. HEY! Here's a link to some of them! Feel free to translate them yourself for bonus points! The anime is slated to premiere next year sometime.
A Devil May Cry anime was announced and the website subsequently put online along with a streaming promo trailer. The site is only pre-opened, so that's no fun. As for the promo trailer, it's about as interesting as politics. That is to say, it's not interesting. It's just fading in line drawings of Dante and overly dramatic music. It was actually sort of a pain to watch. So yeah, I mean check it out if you want a little bit of whatever you're supposed to get from that trailer. I YouTubed it and it's available in streaming WMV over here.
Yeah… so, I locked myself out of my office. I had to get the maintenance guy at home to let me into my apartment. Haha. Nice. Enjoy the trailer.
Well, this was a good day from Volks. The last posting I have today is for a pair of figures from the Mai-HiME series. The first comes to us from Mai-Otome. It is a 1/6 scale resin cast kit of Erstin Ho. She is displayed in her finest Otome armor and is about to lay down the double shower-head funk on whoever she happens to be swinging at, though I think I will stop right there and complain. She's clearly in an attack position but her face is just blank. It's a typical figure face. She should be gritting her teach and stuff like that. I'm tired of seeing action poses with normal faces. Fix it. But that's about the only complaint I can muster. She Erstin stands 285mm tall and will be released in October. Moving on, the second figure we have is a pretty typical, if not over-boobed Tokiha Mai figure. I mean, far be it from me to bitch about large breasts. I'm a fan. But they almost seem distracting in this case. I'm not sure I like the way her hair is blowing around either. But these are both small problems (the first one doesn't count as a problem really.) and don't really take too much away from the 240mm figure. Any Mai fan will want to snatch this one up. She is also out in October and both figures will cost 9,240 yen.
Two of Erstin and one of Mai waiting for you after the secret (more) link.
Volks, when will you cease to make me happy? I mean, you know, in the realm of today. If you liked the Densha Otoko live action series, or like me, liked the opening more, then get ready to have your otaku stroked in a major way. Volks has announced the release of two 1/6 scale Resin casts of characters from the upcoming spinoff OVA from that opening, Getsumen Toheiki Mina. I guess the gimmick is that everyone is named Mina or something as the two characters are Tamamushi Mina and Haduki Mina, from youngest to oldest. Starting with Tamamushi, I will assume she is supposed to look like her Jewel Beetle namesake to an extent. She is cute and innocent looking with cherries and… mouse ears? on her head (maybe they're bunny ears. There's a tail… whatever). Not sure what specific ears they are. She is very well carved as is Haduki who sports leeks coming out of her neck and… I guess brown rabbit ears. I don't know they're sort of artisticly rendered, so it's hard to pinpoint. She is dressed more sexily in a traditional china dress and those long glove thingies. I forget what you call them. They are both due in October for 9,240 yen a piece.
Three pictures of each of them after the jump.
Volks sure does know how to make a man erect… I mean… shit… there was no subtlety in that. Anyway, coming fresh from the good people and Volks are a pair of 1/4 scale resin kits of Hayase Mitsuki and Suzumiya Haruka. While these ladies are censored in the pictures, they're not the sort of thing you should show around. The Mitsuki kit runs all the way down to the upper thigh and she is exposed up top and glaring seductively in the general direction of where ever she is faced. it really fits the character well. As for Haruka, that whiny ho, she's looking a bit more modest. Still very well represented as a character as she holds her body-eating cloth up to her chest. If she was trying to cover anything, she failed miserably. Both will be out in October. Mitsuki will cost you 18,900 and the smaller, but still awesome Haruka will hit you up for 14,700 yen.
Just a disclaimer, these are being called resin cast kits, so I'm not sure if they're pre-assembled and painted or not. Sorry for being so stupid. One shot of each after the jump.
Amazingly, this is the only trading figure set today. You'd think that trading figures were like little gold nuggets. Ok, I won't bitch. I know some people still dig them, and I have to say that CMS Corp's Mai-Otome trading figure offering has grasped me in some weird way. The reason I say that they've grasped me in a weird way is because the 12 piece 1BOX isn't the highest quality set of trading figures I've seen in a while, but it feels right. Is that odd? I mean, looking at the figures I can quickly find little things that would detract from the typical goodness, but these figures, to me, just seem like they are exactly how they should be. Ah well, enough about that. The spread is a nice one featuring popular characters in dynamic poses. Regrettably, they all look to have back support poles instead of base plugs, but that's pretty minor to me. These ladies will be out in November for 7,800 yen.
Seven shots up after the jump. Lalalalalala. There's some more Mai-Otome coming in a minute. Full sizers.
Well, I think it's safe to assume this next lady is from an eroge named Myourenji-cha Megumi: Colorful Education (or maybe the other way around). Now, while I won't out and out call her NSFW I will say that she likely shouldn't be viewed in eyeshot of coworkers or bosses. She is posed… provocatively. I'm not 100% sure of her name, I'm going to assume her it's Yukirin. Yukirin is posed in such a way as to show that she has fallen down in her French maid outfit, and in the process, pulled the top back over her bra and spilt some milk. That's a damn shame. This is a very, very nice looking 1/8 scale figure. I don't agree with the way they chose to show the thick part of her thigh highs, but hey, that's really my only complaint. She's out this December for 4,800 yen.
Only one picture after the jump, but there's some good news. Max Factory's Kokonoe and Alter's January releases are now up for preorder at HobbyLink. I've already laid my orders down. I suggest you do the same.
