October 2006

Good fucking lord, will it ever end?! This time we have entries from Wafuudou and The Bandai Vendor Division. Haha. Bandai. Anyway, I want to keep this short since I am so sick of Eva figures. First up is is metamorphing (their words, not mine) Asuka Langley figure. You rub her clothes away in various ways and at various temperatures. IT'S SO CUSTOMIZABLE. Whatever, look at the picture after the jump to see what the deal is here. She'll cost 3,980 yen in February and she stands 190mm tall. Second is a more typical Rei figure from Wafuudou. The carve looks nice, she's 1/7 scale and is sitting so only stands 100mm tall. She is due out in the last third of January and will run you 4,980 yen as well.

One of Asuka and a bunch of Rei after the jump.

Well, I finally caught my RSS program up on all the things I should be tracking, you know… good blogs and stuff. It's not 100% to where it should be, but whatever Moetron is on it now. Like it should be. And in having added him I noticed some news that I hadn't seen wherein pKjd mentions the broadcast dates for the upcoming Rozen Maiden OVA, Rozen Maiden Ouverture, as well as DiGi Charat: Winter Garden. Both shows are set to air on December 22nd for the first part and 23rd for the second part. There is some extra minor info at Moetron, so go read it. READ IT NOW.

Also, the IchiMashi OVA was supposed to come out… yesterday, but it didn't No other info on that right now.

Well, happy Monday everyone. I was planning to camp out overnight for a PS3 preorder, but no such business. Instead I ended up in a fucking raffle for the preorder which I lost, of course, among the other 250 people that were there. And this is in Champaign, IL, at a Toys 'R Us, at 8AM on a Sunday… for a raffle. What the hell is that all about? Oh well. I picked up a new Slimline PS2 (the Satin Silver limited edition) to replace my newly busted v4 PS2 from launch day and my Ignis is in the mail. It's good stuff. Hopefully, I can still manage to pick up a PS3 on launch day. I have some shit in place to help me out, but we'll see how they work closer to launch day. ON WITH THE ROLLUP!

Anime/Manga/Games

Figures

  • Mostly nothing. Just these freaky posable dolls.
  • Oh, and I e-mailed HLJ about the Moeyo! mascot (Fii-tan) from Toys Planning, and they said that it will be posted up for preorder when they get the proper information from Toys Planning, so YAY it looks like they'll be carrying it after all.

Welp! That's it for the rollup. I am so fucking stoked for the PS3, you guys don't even know. I'm not terribly concerned about the Wii as I am told I should be able to walk in a pick one up on launch day.

If there's one thing I like to see in a PVC, it's a large breasted woman, made even larger by turning her into a 1/6 scale figure. Orchid Seed has heard this opinion and delivered unto me a 1/6 scale Witchblade PVC that stands 400mm tall. Yeah… they tricked me too with that size bullshit. She has a accessory that bumps her to 400mm when you stick it on. Whatever. Still, there is a lot of Masane in this figure, and that's a good thing… well, for shameless pervert types who don't mind having half naked women on their shelves. The ever busty Witchblade is sporting a rather typical pose, as we've come to know her. Arched back, ass out, making her bust size known to the world. But there was something that caught my eye on this figure and has been drawing me in. It's the eyes. I don't know why but the accents are really well done and just pull me in. I know it sounds cheesy, but that's how it is. I do see a few minor issues. The "ass-crack" for lack of a better word seems sort of… you know… empty. And the armor at the top of her thighs doesn't hug the skin in a way that I find compelling. Minor stuff. I could harp on this figure for a while, as it has a nice solid sculpt and good coloring for such a skin bearing figure (a lot of times painters go sour trying to add tone and definition to every curve, blah), but I will just shut up here and let the pictures do the talking. There's plenty of them. She's out in February for 6,800 yen.

I repeat: There's plenty of them. Eleven to be exact. Please enjoy them with your pants on, and if your boss isn't a fan of tiny clothes, you might want to wait a bit to view this one.

Since Kurushima didn't want to slack, they are also releasing three resin kits featuring Misato and Maya from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Since there are three I will take care of the links all in one fell swoop along with quick descriptions. The first, No.69, sports Misato in a position that seem really familiar, standing around in her uniform with a windblown sort of look to her. Nothing too special here. She's 10 pieces, 225mm tall, and will run you 8,190 yen in November. The price and month are the same for all the others. Next on the list is No.73, Misato in a racing girl outfit, looking as though she's just taken a tumble. That sculpt on these first two isn't really very inspiring for me. 125mm tall, because of the pose, and only 7 pieces. Good for a beginner, I would guess. The last of the three is No.83, which shows the best pose of the three to me. Maya is sitting down at her laptop and having a cookie. She's cute. This one sits 100mm tall and consists of 13 pieces.

I know I sort of blew through those, but they're resin kits and they're pretty uninspired. Only one picture for the lot after the jump.

Well, I don't normally have a lot of resin kits on the site, but oh well! Kurushima Factory has announce a new entry into their Yasumichan series of original resin kits. This time around Yasumi is showing her prowess in Rhythmic Gymnastics, or "ribbon twirling bullshit" to the uninitiated. The figure is 1/8 scale, stands 280mm tall, and will run you 9,240 yen this December. Keep in mind, resin kits have to be glued together. Just saying.

Only one shot after the jump. That seam on her arm is sort of distracting since it's solid white… hmmm…

Mecha fans rejoice! Or don't. A trailer for the upcoming mecha/ugly people anime Soukou no Strain has a trailer online! Hooray! I didn't actually watch the trailer yet because I have some stuff I am doing. The trailer runs the standard 30 seconds and is probably really interesting. I saw some fun fonts in there. Anyway the show itself is due out on November 1st, so look for that in a few weeks. The characters don't look that bad, I was kidding. Oh well. We'll see.

YouTubing of the trailer after the jump and the streaming version is over thissa way. YAY!

Well, that's good that it wasn't just a rumor. The ToHeart 2 OVA, I mean. I couldn't remember when it had been mentioned by Aqua, but it looks like I don't have to remember anymore! The official website for the upcoming OVA is online now. Not a whole lot of info is available and, sadly, there isn't a character page online yet, but there are some interesting bits. Firstly, the OVA is set for SOMETIME in 2007. Nothing firm is set. But secondly, AquaPlus is celebrating the new year right by having a screening of the first of the three episodes for a select few. Applications will be in various magazines this month and they are to be postmarked by December 11th to be eligible for entry. Yay!

Well, if you enjoyed the first episode of Ayumayu Theater, then you will be happy to know that the second episode is out now for you to get your stream on. It's another three minutes of the same sort of thing. This one starts out with some seriousness and then promptly gets hilarious when everyone's favorite coma patient gets to the emergency room. I vote that it's better than the first episode. Maybe DM will translate it again, but you don't really need it for this episode.

The streaming version will be online until November 9th. My DailyMotion upload of the episode will be online until I get sued by the Japanese for STEALIN'! But that's fine. I will hide in Sweden.

Well, well, well. Here we are again, old chaps. Good Smile Company has announced another month's worth of figures. Well. It announced two. So add that to anything they had and any that they might add… then there's a month's worth. Whatever, you're getting me all distracted. First up on the list is a rather shiny, but intricate, Shinku. The murderous little doll isn't really up my alley, but comes with some accessories that will makes fans enjoy her even more. My complaints on this one are few, just mostly that she is so shiny. It takes something away from her. That, and that the hair and clothing/hat are so busy that it's hard to focus on the character… you know, the focal point. Again, I think fans of Shinku will really dig this one, but people with a passing fancy would rather see her in that slip, and not so crowded with crap. She's out for 6,500 yen this February and stands 180mm tall. A bit expensive, but sort of makes sense with the mirror and the custom base.

The other announcement today was for Manaka Komaki from ToHeart2 XRATED. She is reminding me of that sort of chubby looking Mai from Mai HiME that GSC put out a while back, but I can't deny my love for thick thighed anime ladies (Oh Pani Poni, how do I love thee.) Komaki is sporting a really interesting pose, not so much for body position, but for activity. She has a hair tie in her mouth and she's in the process of combing her hair to put it up. It's a simple touch that doesn't make the figure too complex, but adds a lot of character. The eyes don't pop too much, which is good, and she just looks proper for a visual novel character. ToHeart2 fans will jump, and fans of simplistic figures might want to give a look as well. She's 180mm and will cost 4,800 yen this February.

Twelve shots of Shinku and seven of Komaki are waiting after the jump. Waahoo!
