Well, it looks like Seven Seas isn't half the company I had thought they were. I am about to get mean about this. Here goes. DeAngelis, you're a pussy. You're a punk bitch pussy who can't stand up for any sort of freedom. Oh yeah, Tom's of Finland is fine for print, TOKYOPOP has the balls print Yubisaki Milk Tea and NHK ni Youkoso unedited, but a man who spends his days mocking real manga with fan fiction and bitching about artists being censored by American companies won't stand up and put out something mildly controversial. Man, what a fucking joke. Kodomo no Jikan is hilarious and fun. But no, the Christian Anime Forum crew came rolling in, and you dropped it. (Also, the other rant jigger is here.)
So, as it is, ikimashou does NOT support Seven Seas and will go to great lengths to point out alternative sources for material they've licensed. Anyone else who wants to join in boycotting this kowtowing group of bloody vaginas would be much appreciated. Jason, man, you need to learn to filter internet bitching. Twenty people on your sagging forums doesn't equate to the tons of people who have no idea your site exists or don't want to sign up.
So, as I see it, you've got two real options. Either man up and release the fucking thing, or give up the license so someone with a set of testicles can put it out proper. Well, that is if they even would. You just basically made the property unlicensable. Asshole.
Here's a link to the scanslations that have been done so far. Read and enjoy it. Hit the jump for a prime example of why this is one of the best manga ever.

Amen, brother, preach on. You tell it to them!
You forgot to mention how Bertschy of Answerman fame is also a flaming faggot, but after seeing your brilliant diatribe I suppose there's no need for it.
May 30th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
But Americans are all fags. So what's new?
May 30th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
I think it might be possible that someone less than perfectly Christian might be offended by a little girl with a sign that says PLEASE COME INSIDE ME
but that's just me
May 30th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
Oh sure, that's possible. But they're still over sensitive asshats. I mean, do you have to buy it/look at it/touch it/acknowledge it? No. You don't.
It never ceases to amaze me that we're expected to cater to people who are offended more easily rather than expecting them to come up to a level of understanding that even if you don't like it, other people do. And it's BASELINE FUCKED UP to try to take something YOU DON'T WANT from people who want it.
More over, let me be clear here, crystal fucking clear, SHE DOESN'T EXIST. THERE IS NO LITTLE GIRL. IT IS A DRAWING.
May 30th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
That's one fine diatribe, keep it going. It's pretty sad actually, the company that would like to please and cater to their customers decides to go back when somebody else from the "sidewalk" decides to ram a melon in their ass about it. Even if they don't even know what it's about nor would read it.
Same with the soccer moms and christ zealots, the matter doesn't even touch them and they think they have some sort of divine right to ram pine-apples in their nostrils and whine out loud from frustration. "Oh sorry, your son found/bought a volume that teaches him something you don't want? Remember that I point out him to Kamasutra next time we meet in library, I know he'll appreciate it."
Same thing with the ANNfgt's and especially Answerfaggot who can't even see the moat between reality and fiction. "just because I don't want to get weird looks from public", how fucking sad is that Answerman?. And totally, anyone who reads Kodomo no Jikan is the next thing in your neighborhood raping the kids, you hear me? And the author is female, not that it matters at this point, but it's fun to point it out.
What a load of shit, and I even expect that this would have been their best-selling title, surely /a/ would have bought it by truckloads. Not that I know what crap they (SS) have licensed as I have lost all my faith into Eng market and moved to raw importing. Expect for DrMaster, that gets their job done the way it should be done.
If I remember correctly, they (SS) hold the license to Strawberry Panic manga and caused the scanlation groups translator to chicken out. Bleh. Good to have the raws on my desk.
Bit long rant, but it's fun every now and then.
May 30th, 2007 at 1:59 pm
Lots of fruit ramming. Haha.
I just read the Answerman thing. Honestly, I never visit ANN. Like, never. What an uninformed jackass. Really. Not a shrink wrapped loli manga? YUBISAKI MILK TEA! FUCK SAKE! You're dealing with a guy who uses a middle schoolers blind love for him to try to rule her life. Etc.
ANN is Amerifan garbage. Really. Closed mind. Uninformed. Etc, etc. I just want to know, WHY SHOULDN'T I BE ABLE TO BUY IT? I've said this before, and I'll say it again. YOU DO NOT DICTATE THE FLOW OF THE MARKET, PEOPLE. If you did, then Yubisaki Milk Tea and all those other sorts of things would be locked away with the Tao Te Ching and all the gay and lesbian literature they could find. IT'S SAD. Fuck off of my rights. Relax a little, god damn.
May 30th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
Also, get me a translation scripts and I'll do the editing on Kodomo no Jikan.
Seven Seas is now in my books critered as "boycot the bloody bastards", along with few other Eng distributors better left unnamed.
May 30th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
Some people have already told me they'll be starting up a group. So, whenever they start releasing it might be worth mailing them to see if they need help. :D
Haha, needless to say, the real American otaku are pissed.
May 30th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
Not only the American otaku, also (at least one) European otaku ;)
Damn, I usually don't read or buy any manga, not even in my native language. But why do they just cancel Kodomo Jikan?! I was even going to import it.
;____;
May 30th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
If a group appears to do it, I just might, until that I continue my _renegade_ editing @ /a/ & sharpening the skills of photoshop-monkey on my free time. Horrendously rusty, or slow as I think, as a perfectionist. I actually tend to use 400%-1600% zoom and grid layering when doing the editing until text placement.
And seriously about ANN, what a truckload of faggots, the only good thing never come out of that putrid place was the encyclopedia when I doing single-cd ripping and checking staff listings behind series. And actually some of them there do think they are the moving force & the closed-in revolutionizer minds in the scene. And the nickname using attention whores and their kinsmen can go back to their cold caves ramming t-rex bones into their orifices or hugging their e-penis.
Too bad most of the English manga publishers are US-based when they are serving the whole English speaking world (hello Finland) and seems like there are some bloody maggots that go bawwww when the first rabies induced bitchers come in. I wouldn't give two cents if I would receive mail or notions to cease or cancel something. Only answer that go bitch to someone else, you don't have to read/use/buy/support it. That's if I was a publisher behind something.
May 30th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
This manga makes me sick. I don't think I can possibly stomach the amount of financial backlash this is going to cause me when I go on a figure buying rampage for it.
According to AnimeOnDVD's edited post on the cancellation (which cites JournalFen), LiveJournal has been removing journals and communities with "taboo" content such as yaoi, shota, and rape. This is being done due to pressure from a group known as the…
WARRIORS FOR INNOCENCE!
How divine! If only I had such high-minded values, then I too could shred liberties at their glorious pace. And everyone would give in! HA HA HA.
:(

A journal on LJ is reporting that Warriors for Innocence's site may contain spyware. Beware if you go searching for it out of curiosity.
May 30th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
Homely Tadpole, lucky for you there's only one 1/6 and one trading kit out there for this fine series. That's if I recall my memory correctly.
And about that LiveJournal, what the hell? And thanks for the heads-up for the site, I almost googled to see what kind thing calls themselves "Warriors of Innocence". No one seems to be safe from the raving lunatics mounted on "good/high" morale horse.
I remember one local giving comment about blogging and MySpace/LiveJournal things in general and he said:
"Most young people aren posting about themselves out there, but it's more made of watery shit about their miserable lives and fantasies, but let them do it. It's their fair right to do it, no matter what the content is, if it's goes right in the eys of law. There are no thought crimes"
That should be the modus operandi for them (LJ/mS) though convicted guys can be revoked/moderated in my eyes for using these services. But to step into someones fetishes or wet daydreams, and from outward pressure too. Seems like things like LJ/mS are pretty much in the shitter nowadays. Let the masses have their "taboos".
May 30th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
Yeah, but looking at the gashapon set, it seems like there are 10 collectibles due to alternate colors. Only 8 per box! At least two boxes! That is, if I can even locate a store that has them in stock. And that's dependent on whether or not I can muster up the money. Thankfully the 1/6 will be easier to find.
That same journal that warned about the possibility of spyware said that Warriors for Innocence may not be directly responsible. It's just a rumor at this point. They supposedly stated that they were doing an "economic boycott" of LiveJournal, but that's the extent.

The news is now up on Anime News Network as well. They seem to have a decent rundown.

*shrug*
Even if Seven Seas went ahead and published the book, it's not like anywhere other than Amazon or Rightstuf would be willing to stock it at this point. There's no point in pushing a book to market if you are just going to end up pissing your cash away on the effort. Them's the breaks, unfortunately.
Good for you for making a stand, though. I'll not be joining you because, frankly, Seven Seas have the best line-up of novel translations, and unlike Viz and Tokyopop they haven't been fucking around with them. Whilst I agree it's a bit shitty that they've caved in to pressure here, my desire to support the translated light novel market outweighs any indignation I have on this issue.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:01 pm
>>But they're still over sensitive asshats.
Amen, brother. Seriously guys, I don't even live in th US of A but all the BAAAAAWWWWW people have made about this manga since it's license was announced doesn't let you ignore the whole deal, so here I am, calling FUCK YOU and a boycott on Seven Seas. Also, boycott Viz for being gay niggers.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Kerot:
I totally understand that. Honestly, I WAS looking forward to their light novels and KashiMashi. But I have no confidence in a company that is willing to sell fans down the river to appease the blowhards.
Still, TOKYOPOP's Kino no Tabi is WONDERFULLY done, and that's good enough for me. Ah, what a depressing state of affairs.
Hey, you think they'd grant me an interview?
May 30th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
I wanted to share my thoughts on the subject, but I'm a bit distracted by tj's last comment on top. Joking or not, it's completely unnecessary and I'm sure I'm not the only one bothered by it. Guess someone's just bitter over the controversy going on in their own home country. Sad.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Haha, oh man. pKjd… that is owned right there. Wow.
Singapwnd. lulul. Han is crying in shame… and paying lots of money for all those Japanese DVDs.
Oh, now he's going to get mad at me. :'(
<3 Han.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:31 pm
I'm trying to work out if you are being sarcastic about Tokyopops release of Kino (due to the chapter reordering, perhaps) or not ^^; I thought the release was pretty good, and Tokyopops release of The Twelve Kingdoms is frankly magnificent, but unfortunately not all of Tokyopops novel releases are treated equally (by which I am largely referring to the sorry state of affairs that was the Crest of the Stars release).
May 31st, 2007 at 6:15 am
And seems like Seven Seas is now blaming the cancellation of series due "we didn't read the latter volumes carefully enough before proceeding to buy license and start working with volume 1".
Well, that's what he says, though I don't see that much contrast between latter volume 1 material to later volumes I have skimmed through. He hugs her, big deal, the skies will fall and Devil will come claim our souls for this blasphemy. Or that's just what they (SS) would like to think.

[…] Loathe as I may be to link ANN, it's necessary if you want to understand what the fuck I am talking about. So there we go. If you don't want to read anymore about the Kodomo no Jikan issues, then piss off and go wank while I discuss issues of great import. It's my site, fuckers. Anyway, DeAngelis is trying to justify his purpose in dropping Kodomo no Jikan now that he's pissed off so many people. I'll be commenting on… large chunks of his article. (Also, tl;dr incoming.)
