Lots of news updates today it seems. And I mean updates in the "new info about old news" way. Remember back in… January when Tsunashima Shirou pulled Jinki: Extend from Comic Blade? Well, he's finally found a new home for his plodding and sort of meh robot manga.Dengeki Moeoh has announced that they will be hosting the renewed version of his book starting with the August issue. Rather they will be running illustrations for three issues, then maybe starting it up. Not entirely sure there. Dengeki Moeoh is one hot magazine by the way. The info link that follows contains… slightly… NSFW… stuff. Like… nipples. Partially uncovered nipples. Excuse me while I got add this to my subscription list.
June 2007
Hey, remember Oshii Mamoru's SuperLiveMation freak show Tachiguishi-retsuden? Or, in English, Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters. Well, it's getting a sequel. It'll be called Shin Onna Tachigui-retsuden. Apparently it'll be broken up into six segments, only two of which will be done my Mamoru, with the other spots going to… you know, other people with long names I don't feel like typing out. Like you guys care. Movie hits in November. ZA WARUDO!
If you guys are anything like me, then any time Max Factory says they're shipping something, it probably means you have at least one figure on the way. Well, if you read the title, then you know that today is one of those days. Max Factory has just tossed a posting up on the staff blog pointing out that they've gotten the shipments for three of their figures.
Ah, I'm drawing out the suspense by not telling you who's shipping. Well, ok, I'll tell you. Mao from Shining Tears, Yuki from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, and the ever verbose Shenhua from Black Lagoon. Generally they go out on Thursdays, in my experience, so look for them then or possibly before. GOOD NEWS FOR FIGURE LOVERS! And yes, I have a Yuki on the way. What I really want are a sexy Revy and Balalaika so I can live out all my perverse fantasies. With tiny plastic figures.
I'd meant to post this last week, since I always love to help out people actually willing to send me press releases. Har! Anyway, it looks like the Xbox LIVE Marketplace is jumping on the anime bandwagon… it's a small wagon, admittedly. So if you have a 360 you will be able to grab… you know, anime. And watch it. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! For a limited time, all your favorite FUNimation shows will be up for download in glorious standard definition, and they won't have Japanese language tracks.
Well… they might do HD. For some stuff. Still, I am willing to put dollars to pesos that it's English only. It hurts my heart to see them continuing to exclude the sub lovers from the market. I mean, WMV can probably do multiple vocal streams. If they do indeed offer subbed version, someone let me know. I don't use my 360 much as it is. That might change when I get my hands on Trusty Bell.
Hit the jump for the full release. It's very excited, so try not to let on if you're not interested.
Another weekend, another depressingly low paying week at the office. Special. Them's the bricks, I guess. I'm almost done with Black Lagoon, but I am waiting for KAA's DVD rips of the rest of the show. They do good work. Anyway, THE PROJECT has been coming along quite nicely. I have one more little (read: huge/complicated) part to get done before I am going to tell you guys what it is at large and sort of explain my big plan and all that jazz. I am hoping everyone will dig it. Anyway, enough of that, it's rollup time. Then I've got some work to do.
Anime/Manga/Games
- Honestly not a whole lot here today. SO LET'S DO IT! I'm not really that excited.
- First up, Japanese tabletop game (everyone seems enamored by the idea that the Japanese call them table talk… special) Night Wizard will be getting the anime treatment. Animation comes courtesy of Hal Filmmaker. Two things. First, the image on that page is shrunk down so it looks shit, but is decent. And second, what the hell is up with people just starting to do gradient hair? It's been cut out of so many things to this point. It's such a nice look, why did it take so long? Of course, this will likely end up being a super fad and going way out of control.
- That's actually it. Special.
Figures
- A bit more on the figure end. First up, pKjd is alive and posting. He has the first shots of FREEing's 1/4 scale Mikuru in the flesh. Well, first English shots.
- In other blog bits, Shingo is packing in the mag figure scoops. It'll be another week because I'd be able to get my hands on them (if I even would. lul. Expensive import, man.), so IN THE NAME OF NEWS! SHINGO GO!
- Moving on! Max Factory is sick of playing second posable fiddle to Kaiyodo's Revoltech line. They want a piece of the posable pie. As such, they've gotten together with Asai Masaki to bring forth the new figure set, figma. The first two offerings will have the old schoolers quivering, a pair from Puraresu Sanshirou. But the meat and potatoes will be Haruhi's Yuki. She looks DAMN GOOD for a posable. Damn good. Shingo has shots up, once again. Damn his access to magazines.
- Have the announced Code Geass figure kits not been… sexy enough? Well, Bandai's offering will do it for you. It features the ladies of Code Geass is a more supplicant demeanor than many of them are used to. They wear it well. Bwahah! It's out in August for 5,160 yen.
- Are you a big fan of hella old TV shows? Then maybe you've heard of a little show called Yattaman, the follow-up show to Time Bokan. Well, AmiAmi just opened up preorders for a Doronjo figure from the series. I tell you, that is one sexy old lady right there. Figure isn't GREAT, but still pretty decent. She'll run you 6,300 yen this August.
- Well, this last one… not too keen on it, personally. From the HIT SERIES (it was decent.) Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! comes a PVC version of Takasu Ayako. She's dutifully exposing her underwear… for no real reason, I guess. Still, everyone likes boobs She comes with black underpants and pink, for 8 year olds who are still into that. That's two versions. They're each 7,140 yen this September. Oh and 1/6 scale.
And we're done. I had something I was going to say, but I totally forgot what it was. Like… seriously. It was a good question, too. Damn my brain. I bet it will come to me right after I post this. DAMN IT ALL!
Gundam. We all know I'm not a huge fan, but it occasionally has some nice looking ladies in the mix. That being said, Banpresto has announced a decent looking, 190mm tall Lunamaria Hawke figure. I went and put this in my last sentence like an idiot, but she looks pretty good. The sculpt isn't GREAT but it certainly isn't bad by any stretch, and any Gundam fan would be happy to have her, for sure. As for pricing, well… she's out this month (eh?) and the pricing is Open Market. Meaning the retailer picks. HobbyStock picked 1,000 yen. Wow.
Here's hoping HLJ puts such a low price on. Four normal shots and one low angle shot after the jump. Whhhaaa? Low angle shots? The world must be ending for the production shots to be upskirts. Haha.
I can practically hear the pants fly right off the fanboys in the crowd. Yes, you read that title right. Bandai Namco just slapped up a preview page for an upcoming Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu video game. Are you excited yet? No? WELL HOW ABOUT THIS! More information will be available in a number of magazines starting at the end of the month. WOO! … No? Well, sorry. You guys can still get a bit pumped, as I do have confirmations that it will be an adventure game and it will be on the PSP. Take that, DS. Anyway, the site above goes full out on July 10th. You might be able to get some pre-info from The Sneaker magazine on the 30th, if you have access to new mags.
CM means commercial message. Just for the people who still don't know some how. Anyway, Panasonic posted up an animation that GONZO did for a CM for their GLOBARANGE VoIP phone thingy. By comparison, the English promotional flash page has the fun sort of awkwardly walk around the screen. Anyway, the trailer is encoded pretty high bit rate (in Flash), and we're dealing with some fairly slow servers… or a big ass file. Get ready for some of the worst voice acting you've ever heard. Good god. It might be the cheesiest thing since the Frito Bandito. Watch it and ENJOY! I know you will love it like an unwed mother. No there is not a Japanese version. Chinese, Spanish, German, French? Sure. Japanese? Nope. Not selling it there. FREE INTERNATIONAL CALLS! FOR THREE YEARS!! But not to Japan. How am I going to prank call people in Japan now?
Oh, and towards the end, it gets all emotional. Haha. This shit is priceless. Oh my god. New best anime ever. The shoemaker and his estranged son. Haha. Sweet Jesus.
The latest issue of Shounen Gangan Powered has let loose the juice. MAN! Where do I come up with this shit? Sometimes I realize what I just typed and wonder what part of my brain shit like that comes from. It's like I go into some sort of retarded news coma. Anyway, Shounen Gangan Powered's July issue has put forth the happy-funtime news that Arakawa Hiromu's latest manga, Juushin Enbu, will be turned into a TV anime. While the storyline doesn't feel terribly inspired (much less cool than Hagane no Renkinjutsushi), it could be alright. The plot works out like this. Chinese Zodiac, boy, star signs, mystical sword, probably saving the world is in there somewhere. Throw all that in a pot and you're THERE!
Alrighty! Some of you guys out there must like Iroha. I mean, how else do you explain all the fucking Iroha figures out there? You don't, that's how. Anyway, since I am an expert in all of the things that you guys love, I have posted up. Yessir. This Iroha is a more realistic rendition. More detail in the face, hair, and clothing make this a really lovely figure, especially if you're into that sort of thing. Sickos. Still, they've done a decent job here. Some things could be better, but most things could be worse. Why not just see for yourself. She's 1/6 scale and will be out in September for 7,140 yen.
Hit the jizzle for four pizzles. Yeah. I did it. Do something about it. I'm confrontational. DOES THAT MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE? I'm looking at you ladies. I should go to sleep. BUT I HAVE WORK!
