Well, well, well, well, well, well, well. Too much? Ok, I'll pull it back a bit. ALTER has come out with their announcements for… well, one is for November and one is for December. But who's counting?! Let's get right to it. For Haruhi fans that feel like Max Factory stopped just a bit short of a total fourgasm with the figures, ALTER is picking up the slack with their announcement of Tsuruya meido ver. Yessir. That's the good stuff. Let's hit the important parts first. For one, yes, she is of top notch quality, as you would expect. Secondly, yes, she has a fang. If this is the PVC girl you've been waiting for, then get your preorders in now. She'll be out in November for 6,090 yen and will stand 180mm tall.
Next up, it's Death-sensei from Peace@Pieces and boy howdy, I may have just found my December figure. The coloring on this figure is amazing and the sculpt is beautiful. Seriously. This is some top quality shit. But as much as I run my mouth about it, nothing speaks like pictures, so I'll save my fanboying over Peace@Pieces for more private venues and just give you the vitals and get to the pictures. She's out in December for 6,615 yen, stands 180mm tall, and makes me weep that prices seem to be on the rise industry wide. What's this no inflation in Japan business?
Hit the jump for the usual sexy ALTER shots of each figure. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Oh, and quick links to the two new Nendoroids. Not putting up pictures because I'm lazy. There's Primula and Rider. Also, Yotsuba Revoltech is up for preorder now. Also, lots of good info on HD, including a FREEing Kyon no Imouto 1/4 scale.

Both are lovely, but I think I'm about to quit small figure collecting. Nothing smaller than 1/5 scale (which is rare). Need excuses to stop buying figures.

Ito is good. TOO GOOD. Aaaagh!
I swear, I've had to tighten the reins on my figure purchasing so much recently. I'm surprised I've done this well. But for every figure I cancel, an even better one makes its appearance. It's a curse.
Wait, Mr. Fitz (LOOOL :( ), did you say December figure? As in one figure? Do you have discipline of adamantine or something? +20 Will save on all enchantments and compulsions to buy pretties?
I'm so very tired.

Haha, yeah. One figure per month. That's my rule. It's really hard sometimes. I tell you. Sometimes I break down pretty hard and pick up two or three in a month. But then my wallet hurts. Haha. I have two this month and two in October. Tons of stuff. OH MAN! And some expensive ones at that. :'(
baka:
Only 1/5 and over? Man that'll really limit the number of quality figures. Though, I am addicted to 1/6 scale lately.

So the Tsuruya is part of te MAXFAC Haruhi collection then. Interesting…
July 26th, 2007 at 1:32 am
i meant isnt. ah well~
July 26th, 2007 at 1:33 am
No, it's not part of it. I imagine Max stopped with the Yuki. I was just saying that it would be good "For Haruhi fans that feel like Max Factory stopped just a bit short."
July 26th, 2007 at 2:37 am
Man, I thought the same thing when I saw Death-sensei… just something about the colours (I dig earthy, muted tones…) and the flow of the lines on that figure which is really nice.
6000YEN WRYYYYYY. ALTER STOP TAKING MY MONIES WITH YOUR PRETTY FIGURES D':
I think I'll mark her down as my December figure too, unless something better comes up.
July 26th, 2007 at 2:40 am
I went ahead and preordered her. A MAN'S PASSION SPEAKS TO HIM CLEARLY WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT!!!
And isn't it depressing with the figures getting more expensive? Man, it's killing me. Especially with the dollar getting weaker by the day. :'( BUT THE PASSION SPEAKS TO ME!
July 26th, 2007 at 3:33 am
Haha. I have the opposite; the dollar is getting better against the Yen (It use to be something like AUS$1 = 85yen, now it's AUS$1 = 105yen)
But, yeah… damn prices. It use to seem rare that a 1/8th figure was more than 5000yen, now most of them are 6000yen+ >_>

The more I look at Sensei, the more I want her (because of everyone hyping her!). Alter seems to be on a similar wavelength to the original designs in terms of coloring. They should have picked up Shana. I like Max Factory, but Alter would have blown them away in that regard.
July 26th, 2007 at 5:01 am
Death-sensei… plese teach me whaterver you want… uuuuhh my master ^^;
Will definitely order her. As a Xmas present, that will make a nice pretext hehe
July 26th, 2007 at 5:42 am
Oh no, not now. Not NOW. Must get both. Though this passion, deadly. Especially on free space and wallet. But man, I shouldn't lie to myself, weak willed as I am, I crave for pretty things like these.
Though the base prices get annoyingly higher, at least euro still fares against yen. When I started importing nice stuff from the Moon, 6000y was 45e and now it's around 36e.
July 26th, 2007 at 11:25 am
I'm gonna preorder Tsuruya without a doubt… but I'll wait till later to decide on Deathsensei or not. Both have green hair, yay! Noizi is taking over, ohoho.

The Alter Peace@Peaces line is fanfreakingtastic, definitely my favorite figure series. Tsuruya is cute too, go fang.
July 26th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
Tsuruya: must have.
Sensei: very cute, will keep in the 'might get' category
Max Factory didn't stop with Yuki. They have Asakura Ryoko coming out in September:
http://www.hlj.com/product/MAX04076
I think it was linked in here.
I wonder why Tsuruya would come under the Alter table. In one of the big figure events last year, Max Factory showed unpainted prototypes of Ryoko and Tsuruya, and if my memory is correct the Tsuruya prototype looked a lot like Alter's.
So either:
1. Alter is making its own Tsuruya (which, IMO, sucks because it will be hard to decide between two versions coming from S-class manufacturers).
2. Alter is releaseing what was shown as a Max Factory prototype. Possibly a side-effect of Max Factory going solo?
BTW, they are both already available on HobbySearch and HobbyStock.

I think it was Alter who split away from Good Smile. They seem to still somehow be connected though. Their limited edition Saber/Irisviel was, is, or will be sold on Good Smile's online site. They've also picked up other series that were dropped before, like Ogiue from Good Smile's Genshiken line. I'm guessing they still have a lot of unfinished business together.
July 26th, 2007 at 1:57 pm
Either that or Alter likes doing partnership projects. Don't they work with Happinet from time to time as well?
