E3 2006

Hot on the heels of the trailer for the super-sized boxed set for the show, Dr. Slump Arale-chan is getting a new movie! That's right! Possibly the larger part of the news is that it is set to hit theaters March 3rd as part of a double feature with One Piece: Episode of Alabaster. Boy howdy do I love double features! Go ahead and enjoy that post icon.
With the main event only a little over an hour away, it will surely be nice to finally see some tech demos of what Nintendo has put together in their system here. I will do my best to keep up with the coverage, but their could be breaks as I am at work and that sort of has to come first. I'll try to avoid it though. No one was reading last night during the Sony conference, so I am sort of expecting that today as well. Haha. It's not a big deal. I'm doing this now to get in the swing of things so that when I continue to do them in the future, I am more prepared and experienced. Anyway, I'll be back when the feeds start to come up and the news starts to roll in.
No important announcements from Nintendo. The Wii is confirmed for Q4 2006, but that was about it. A few game demos that were a bit of fun to watch, but I didn't feel the sense of awe I did watching the PS3 offerings. I guess I'm shallow in that graphics and feel BOTH matter to me instead of one first and the other second. Oh well. I'll still have a Wii on my shelf, so there you go. They avoided the virtual console which was sort of sad. Meh. Oh well. Everything is up after the jump. Now I have some work to do.

Well, there's only about 40 minutes left until the event gets underway on the West Coast, and I am here, intrepid as ever. Hopefully, I won't have any issues with my connection or the broadcast. The tension in the air is PALPABLE! Or at least, that's what I'm told. Next year, maybe I'll actually be there to be able to get to see it. Anyway, it's all in the interest of giving better reporting to you guys, and has nothing to do with my own ridiculous hobbies. At any rate, I am leaving my place of employ to go get things started up. Also this is my 300th post. WOOHOO! Seems fitting, I think.
I'll put some important things out here, but now AFTER THE JUMP WITH YE INFO!
8:32PM - Man, MGS4 is going to just rule everything ever. All of everything will be ruined all over. What a great game designer. MAN! WOW! MAN! Kutaragi-san is out now. Must have wanted to bring out the big guns at the end here. Uh oh! One more big secret. The controller is the secret. Here it comes!
8:34PM - WOO! Same design. They've added powerful and elegant system! What will it be?! They're dancing around the issue! Show the screen damnit! OMG! Revolution! But no external sensors required! And it's the standard controller! HOLY HELL! BAM! THERE FIRST AGAIN! YOU GUYS CAN ALL GO TO HELL! WOO! 6 degress of freedom means, something. Wow. Absolutely amazing. And it's lighter than the original. GOD DAMN!
8:42PM - 60GB and 20GB versions. November 11th. 20GB price for 59,800 yen. US, November 17th, $499 for 20GB, 60GB version for $599. Same prices in Europe except in Euros. They will ship 2million during the launch period. 4million by the end of the year, and 6 million total by March 31st 2007. Man, I will have one of these. They are running a credit list of software partners.

So, this year is Sonic the Hedgehog's 15th birthday and to celebrate, Sega is putting him in one of those crazy new epic action/adventure/platformer things people have been doing lately to liven up old platform properties. Action/Adventure seems to be the top of the heap. Although, I can't help but feel like they are really trying to milk some of the Kingdom Hearts II glory with the feeling of the trailer they put forth. Still, it's an enjoyable watch. I've put it up after the jump for you. Flash 8 is requires, so don't get all disappointed if you don' have it and can't see it. The trailer has some talking, but it's both in English AND subtitled, so no worries.

A New Challenger Appears!
Wait, rather, Majesco has released their E3 lineup! Do you see a theme in today's posts so far? It looks like Majesco will be bringing some fun and funk to the handhelds this season. It's about damn time, too. I have been yearning for some Guilty Gear lately, and having on my PSP sounds like just the ticket. It's a shame companies like Majesco and SNK have such a small release list compared to some of the other companies. Quality over quantity maybe? You know where the press release, don't you?

Yeah, I think we were all waiting for SNKs lineup. They're such a classic company at this point, it's just nice to see they're still alive and moving, even if they're just re-releasing tired franchises with little or no difference in them. I'm not trying to be mean, but that's what they do, and it's fine by me. I mean, games is games, especially when they are a classic lot like SNK is holding on to. I mean, sure it'd be nice to see some new stuff, like REALLY new stuff, but they're not really in that position I don't think. Anyway, their press release is after the jump.

I meant to post this one on Friday but I got a bit tied up, and since E3 is getting start today (Sony conference at 4:00 PST) I figured I should get up release lists for the rest of the companies that I have them for. So without dragging this out, I'll be putting up the Sega E3 game list after the jump and a few others to follow in a little while. I am currently getting my shit here set up to be ready for keeping an eye on the Sony press conference when it goes live. Don't worry. There will still be a Weekend Rollup. I love you guys. All 6 of you. *sniffle* Ok, do the jump thingy.

Square-Enix sent out a pretty release on the 24th, that I am SO not worthy of getting, so I didn't. Anyway, the press release in question gave a listing of Square-Enix's upcoming games list for the 2006 E3 event. The good thing about S.E., though, is that they bother to put together sites, so making a list of the upcoming releases would be worthless, and with that in mind, I have three links for you, and you alone. Give them to no one.
Per the norm, I have included the full press release, with less-good formatting after the jump, so please visit that one instead of the nice and legible one. Thank you for your patronage.
